Wine and Chocolate Tasting

  • Cultivate Coworking 107 W Lytle St Murfreesboro, TN, 37130 United States (map)

Join us for a fun, relaxing evening of chocolate and wine. Do you need a little direction on which wine to pair with a special meal? Tony Johnston is here to help. Tony will present to the group a pairing of wine and chocolate to help with the all important selections for Valentine's Day.  He will also give a short primer on the characteristics of wine to focus on as one shops for a wine.

Cost is $10 per person. Tickets can be purchased on our website or in person at Cultivate Coworking. Open to everyone. You do not need to be a member of our space to join this event.

Tony Johnston received his PhD in Enology and Viticulture in 1995 from the University of Arkansas and assumed his current position as a faculty member at MTSU in August of that year.  He has worked with amateur and professional grape growers and winemakers in the region to improve their grape and wine production techniques ever since.  He teaches courses on Wine Appreciation and Wine Science at MTSU and teaches International Wine Industry as a study abroad course in countries such as Spain, France, and Argentina.

Dr. Johnston assisted with the opening of and served as the winemaker at Sumner Crest Winery in Portland, TN for 3 years, owned and operated Monteagle Winery for 3 years, has consulted with grape growers and winemakers in almost every state adjoining Tennessee, and established a demonstration vineyard at the Rutherford County Extension Office.  Dr. Johnston is frequently asked to speak on wine and wine related topics and has written over 50 wine related articles for publication in the Murfreesboro Daily News Journal.  He is currently working to establish grapes as a viable crop in Honduras.
